英文班、入籍班及就业班
Many immigrants want to learn English so that they can build a new life in America. Learning English will help them find better jobs, help their children in school, make American friends, or eventually become a U.S. citizen.
Pui Tak Center's ESL program serves over 900 adults annually, making it one of the largest community-based ESL programs in Illinois. Our program also is among the top performing programs in Illinois with the majority of students showing measurable improvement in English skills after attending our classes.
Pui Tak Center offers a range of free Adult Education classes including:
-
Six levels of ESL classes from Beginning Literacy all the way to Advanced
-
Citizenship classes
-
Work-related classes including Bridge classes (that teach English for healthcare and exploring career pathways) and Integrated Education & Training (Food Service Management Certification)
Our seven-week class sessions go year-around and are offered in-person at Pui Tak Center (2216 S Wentworth), Chinese Christian Union Church-South (3000 S Wallace) and online. Classes are offered weekday mornings, weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Other free program services including:
-
Adult Tutoring: Providing volunteer 1-on-1 tutoring and small group special-interest classes (Restaurant English, Beauty & Nails English, Phonics, Conversation)
-
Transition Services: Helping students enter employment, vocational training or post-secondary education
