Youth Program
Pui Tak Center offers classes, after school programs, and summer enrichment programs for 7-12th grade youth in Chicago’s Chinatown to help them adjust to life in America.
After School Program
Learning doesn’t have to end with the school day. Our popular After School Program allows youth to expand upon what they learned under the guidance of experienced tutors and teachers.
There are two tracks available:
-
ESL After School Support for newer Chinese immigrant students, with additional ESL classes and individual tutoring
-
Non-ESL After School Support for ABCs or students who have exited the ESL program
Our program is designed to not only provide homework tutoring for students, but also prepare students for high school or college, build character, and explore career paths and life purpose. Students have the opportunity to participate in different workshops, go on field trips and college visits. We also aim to support 11-12th grade students for life beyond high school. This includes additional support for college application, English communication skills training, career and internship preparation, and scholarship application support.
Registration typically opens in August for the Fall semester and in December for the Spring semester.
Summer Program
Learning at Pui Tak Center continues through the summer! The Pui Tak Center Youth Summer Program held annually in July to August is a daily academic summer program with ESL focus for bilingual students in grades 7-12. Students engage in quality English instruction and field trips that will aid their transition into the American school system during the school year.
Students will learn English speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing skills, as well as review learning techniques (e.g. note-taking, how to write summaries), culture and virtue, and high school or college preparation.
Registration typically opens in late April.
